Who are we?

For 10+ years cesar has delivered services in the areas of sustainable agriculture and biodiversity conservation. We are a passionate team who provide scientific research and services to government, academia and private organisations. While we are self-proclaimed science geeks who love the nitty gritty we need further skill sets to lead our business success. Right now, we are on the hunt for people and project leadership skills.

The role - is this you?

The mission of this role is to establish and successfully execute the new role of Team Leader – Research, by managing research projects and fostering a high performing, engaged team that delivers quality outcomes to clients.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is an excellent project manager – you have processes and systems up your sleeve that always ensure your organisation and planning is of the highest standard. You have proven experience and skills in successfully managing projects involving multiple people and stakeholders.
  • Takes people leadership and management in their stride – you take great pleasure in helping others improve and develop, and prioritise people matters. You have your ear to the ground for road blocks and are quick to remove them for your staff. In particular your communication and interpersonal skills help to ensure you build good relationships with your team and those you work with.
  • Strives for high performance in yourself and others – you lead by example with the high standards you meet for yourself. You also have a good analytical mind and ability to learn quickly - the business is dynamic and you would be continuously looking at new science, client challenges and industries.
  • Gets their hands dirty and helps deliver –both figuratively and literally! You do what needs to get done as far as successful project delivery is concerned. For example, assisting with field work, data analysis or writing client reports. In particular, you will be an excellent writer who can develop concise, insightful reports for a client audience.
  • Has expertise in population genetics and/or agricultural entomology – having a research background is important, and we envisage this within these areas. However, if you have a good argument as to why you could be our new Team Leader without one or both of these two specific areas of expertise (and you tick all the other boxes) we would like to hear from you!

Are you up for the challenge?

We expect that our new Team Leader will achieve the following outcomes in this role:

  • Managing and fostering a high-performance team.
  • Ensuring research projects within the business meet milestone requirements and profit targets.
  • Successfully take over relevant project reporting, data analysis and some publication development currently conducted by directors.
  • Contributing to cesar’s strategic planning and innovation missions.
  • Supporting business development efforts.
